KDL Midgets – Provincial and League Champions
March 29 – After a long bus ride to Strasbourg Saturday, with a player bus and a fan bus, the KDL Midgets jumped out to a 2 goal lead early in the first and it all looked great! They ended the first at 2-1, then it turned south, and would be tied at 3 just five minutes into the second period. KDL goes ahead again, then tied at 4 then tied at 5 then Strasbourg goes ahead 6-5! Wait what? Yes, Strasbourg takes the lead, then KDL puts the pedal down, opens it up and finally comes out of this barn burner up by a goal 7-6 to win the Provincial title in front of their noisy fans and a packed, stunned rink!
An unlikely season that started with no coach and no goalies, Danora Semilet was not going to let this team fade into the sunset, taking this team by the hand, she pushed and proded it together, found coaches and goalies and let them go and look what happens!
A Provincial and a League title to hang in the ol`barn! Nice work!
See you all next year and thanks for comin’ out! It was a fun ride!

KDL faced off against the Strasbourg Maroons on Saturday afternoon. In an end to end battle and tied after two periods, Tyler Neuemeier would pot the go ahead goal to take a 3-2 lead into Strasbourg next Saturday to determine the 2014/15 Provincial Midget Champions!
The AA Midget girls traveled to Regina on snow covered roads, for game 2 of their Provincial final series on Sunday. After battling into the third period still tied and with less than 2 minutes left on the clock, Keili Murphy would net the winner to give the Wheat Kings the Provincial Championship, winning the series 2 games to none! That’s the way ya do it!
The Unity Bantams with 3 Kerrobert players in tow will be carrying a 3 goal deficit back to Southy for their Provincial Final after giving up game one at home by a score of 5-2 in a physical penalty laden affair on Saturday night. They will have to bring it up one more notch!
A great turnout for the West Central Rage Awards banquet and dance and listened to local celebrity Ryan Volk, Saturday night after the Midget game. Thanks to all who came in support!

Kids came out after the Pee Wee game to skate with and say goodbye to their favorite Rage player! Lots of veterans won`t be returning next year!
Shoot Out!
West Central Rage will not play a make up home game with the Quakers. The Rage struggled this season in the defensive zone. Most teams would have loved to have the offensive power of the Rage and scored lots of goals. Just missing a playoff spot this season.

KDL Pee Wees hosted Waterous for their second round of Provincial play on Fiday. A fast skating Waterous team would have the Local kids down 2-1 after the first and 6-1 after 2. The KDL club was fired up and came out skating in the third and was able to hold Waterous off the board for the remainder and add 2 of their own to give them a lift heading back to Waterous. Waterous takes this one by a score of 6-3 but KDL showed they could skate with the Hawks and will take the momentum swing into game 2.
Prairie Thunder Bantam Girls made the trek to Swift Current where Celina Kissick pots a hat trick to lead her team to a 4-1 victory before the return trip to Dodsland for game 2 on Thursday Feb 12 at 7:45.
Feb 5- KDL Midgets have made it look easy this season. They faced their nemesis Macklin last night in Luseland. Dressed in Stallards Jerseys they out played Macklin in the first only to come out of the period down 2-0. In the second the KDL club looked tired and frustrated and by the third they looked as if they would rather be somewhere else. Macklin did not carry the play but they were able to frustrate and rattle the confidence of the high flying KDL snipers with aggressive fore-checking and beat them mentally as well as on the score board by a final of 3-2. KDL managed a rally in the later part of the game but will have to figure out how to handle this club in a hurry as the road through the league and through Provincials could very easily pass right through Macklin. Macklin just wanted this one more and they take the season series 2 games to 1 handing KDL their only losses of the season. KDL cruised easily through the first round of Provincials and start their first round of League finals Monday with Kindersley.
Feb 3- Pee Wees breezed through the first round of Provincial playoffs with Lashburn and move on to second round with the Watrous Hawks on Friday.
KDL Midgests easily handled Lanigan in the SHA D pool and move on to the second round. First round of Hwy 14 League playoffs start against Kindersley at home Monday night. Midget zone team will have evaluations this weekend.
Jan 13 – A barn burner in Dodge for the Midgets, entertaining the high flying Rosetown Hanney team. A great, end to end thriller once again had KDL tired and down by 2 goals late in the third, Cole Kissick would come in on net and work his magic making it 5-4 and with time running out and the KDL net empty, Tyler Birn walked in and shoveled it past the Rosetown minder to salvage a tie 5-5. The last few games have provided the fans with some very competitive entertaining hockey.
Kissick from Kissick and Kissick!
Jan 10- Returning to Macklin, the only team to beat the KDL Midgets so far this season for a return match on Saturday. In an end to end game KDL was playing catch up all night. At best they would tie the game only to have Macklin move ahead. Passes intercepted, penalties and 2 of the top scorers in the league caused KDL grief all night. Down by a goal late in the third, Wyatt Knorr would bury one from Hunter Thomson to tie the game. Then, with only 19 seconds left on the clock, and KDL short handed, in a flash, James Semilet moved the puck up to Cole Kissick who shipped up to Ryder Kissick and finally to Reid Kissick who put it in the with net with 7 seconds left for the winner and hand Macklin a heartbreaking loss, 5-4. Kissick from Kissick and Kissick!
KDL Midgets entertained Eston Friday night and what looked like was going to end in a no score tie with seconds left on the clock, Cole Kisick turned and ripped a surprise shot past the solid Eston Goaltender. KDL wins a tight one 1-0 ! Wade Pinno played his first game in net coming off an injury and turned away every shot for the shut out!

What is Fair Play?
There are four main participant groups involved in minor hockey games: the players, the coaches, the officials, and the parents/spectators. How these four groups interact determines how positive, or how negative an event becomes. A Fair Play program in any hockey association promotes SAFETY and RESPECT and a positive environment for all participants.
Fair Play Principles
- Respect the Rules
- Respect the Opponents
- Respect the Officials and Their Decisions
- Have Everyone Participate
- Maintain Your Self-Control at all Times
There is no level of hockey below the house level. If kids aren’t allowed to play at this level they have to drop out. The objective for all of Minor Hockey is skill development for all participants, not winning at any cost or to groom kids for elite hockey! All Minor Hockey Associations must constantly ask themselves “are all participants being treated fairly?”

News:
Feb 5- KDL Midgets have made it look easy this season. They faced their nemesis Macklin last night in Luseland. Dressed in Stallards Jerseys they out played Macklin in the first only to come out of the period down 2-0. In the second the KDL club looked tired and frustrated and by the third they looked as if they would rather be somewhere else. Macklin did not carry the play but they were able to frustrate and rattle the confidence of the high flying KDL snipers at every turn with aggressive fore-checking and was able to beat them mentally as well as on the score board by a final of 3-2. KDL managed a rally in the later part of the game but will have to figure out how to handle this club in a hurry as the road through the league and through Provincials could very easily pass right through Macklin. Macklin takes the season series 2 games to 1 handing KDL their only losses to date. KDL cruised easily through first round of Provincials and start their first round of League finals Monday with Kindersley.
Jan 21 – Making up an earlier canceled game brought Unity Lazers to town on Wednesday night. KDL took no prisoners on the night and finished them off 7-1.
Jan 13 – A barn burner in Dodge for the Midgets, entertaining the high flying Rosetown Hanney team. A great, end to end thriller once again saw KDL late in the third, tired and down by 2 goals, Cole Kissick would come in on net and work his magic making it 5-4 and with time running out and the KDL net empty, Tyler Birn walks in and shovels it past the Rosetown minder to salvage a tie 5-5. The last few games have provided the fans with some very competitive entertaining hockey.
Jan 9- KDL Midgets entertained Eston Friday night and what looked like was going to end in a no score tie with seconds left on the clock, Cole Kisick turned and ripped a surprise shot past the solid Eston Goaltender. KDL wins a tight one 1-0 ! Wade Pinno played his first game in net coming off an injury and turned away every shot for the shut out!
Jan 4 – Back to business! Midgets travel to Rosetown to take on the high flying H team and made it look easy. Playing mostly in the Rosetown end came out with a 6-3 win.
New Year
Dec 13 KDL blows out Kindersley 13-1!
On Sunday Dec 7 the KDL Midgets would entertain Rosetown and at the end of a close first period would see KDL down by a goal. Hunter Thompson would wake up KDL with a goal and start the 9 goal rally that had the fans dizzy. The relentless swarming of KDL played out the Rosetown tender. Lots of fans in the rink on this day to watch the entertaining offensive skills!
On Friday Nov 28 the Midgets traveled to Macklin to taste their first defeat of the season. With a late goal in the last minute of the game Macklin takes this one 5-4. Goals against just went from 1 in 3 games to 6 in 4 games. They will have to make it up Sunday at home….
Nov 27
Dodsland rink, on a dark and stormy night, would entertain the Unity Lazers and the KDL Midgets to a 0-0 tie through the first period, when Reid Kissick would open the flood gates 5 minutes into the second from Tyler Birn. Tyler Neumeier would carry the mail on this night with a hat trick to lead his squad to 8-0 romp as Unity would eventually tire of the relentless attack from KDL. Ryder Kissick, Zach Ross, Tyler Birn and Kolby Reiber would each pot a goal and an assist. Quenton Flahr would chock up his second shut out in 3 games.

Nov 21
The Midgets traveled to Kindersley and blew out the foe to the South by a score of 10-0
KDL dominated the score sheet on the goal side and on the penalty side. Ryder Kissick led the club with 5 points.

The Midget home opener had KDL entertaining the Eatonia / Leader squad for an early afternoon game in the barn. With early chances, KDL seemed frustrated with an active goaltender that held back the potent offense until late in the first when Mitch Bradley finally buried one at 3 minutes left in the first from Tylo Anderson and Derek Schraefel. Eatonia would tie it up early in the second and were able to hold KDL until the third when Tyler Birn would net the go ahead goal from Tommy Ehry and Bradley at 2 minutes into the third. At the 15 minute mark of the third, Ryder Kissick would tuck one from Anderson and Schraefel to put the clincher on the opener at 3-1. Quinton Flahr picks up the win for the good guys in net.
KDL Midgets with 22 kids will rotate players out of the line up this season as only 17 skaters and 2 goalies can dress for any game. The KDL Midgets will be in Kindersley on Friday and Rosetown on Saturday on the Nov 21/22 weekend for the first road swing.
